A prostitute soliciting for men.

It was a spectacle last week when the Federal Capital Territory Ministerial Task Force arrested a retired director in one of the federal ministries for allegedly patronising a commercial sex worker on a street in Abuja.

The retired director was picked up by the task force on Gimba Street, Garki 11, where he was allegedly negotiating with a call girl.

Behind The News learnt that as he was negotiating with the hooker for up to five minutes, the man was unaware of the task force officials already standing in front of his tinted glass Toyota RAV4 SUV, waiting for him to round off his haggling. Upon his arrest, the former civil service big wig initially claimed the hooker was his daughter, but later changed his story when he was taken, along with 60 others, to the Wuse Police station where he changed to another claim that the lady was his fiancée.

However, a drama ensued when the man attempted to flex his influence and put a call to his wife on the telephone to contact his lawyer. The other detainees who were listening to his conversation with the wife blew the lid off his lies as they interjected and shouted to the woman’s hearing that her husband was arrested for patronising a prostitute. The infuriated wife hung up on him.

Some weeks back, the FCT minister, Senator Bala Mohammed had constituted the task force to clear the streets of Abuja of commercial sex workers. This was after the expiration of the ultimatum given to them to quit the city or face prosecution.
